Simon – Business Manager
Simon grew up in Montreal Canada and graduated with Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in education from Concordia University. As business manager at SMPD he oversees patient accounts and can be found handling almost all the non-clinical jobs from sterilization to front desk. Simon loves to spend time with his family. He swim’s with the Maine Masters and enjoys open water races along Maine’s lovely coastline and lakes.
Whitney – Patient Coordinator
Whitney is our Patient Coordinator. She joined the team in August 2016. She is responsible for scheduling patient’s appointments and answering all your important phone calls. Before working for Dr. Wignall, Whitney was a missionary in Arcahaie, Haiti and now remains in Parsonsfield, ME on the farm where she grew up. She adores being a dog mom to her Goldendoodle, Grace and enjoys running, biking, spending time with her family and friends and all of the outdoor adventures Maine offers!
Vanja – Deep Sedation Coordinator
Vanja joined our office in May 2012. She is responsible for scheduling patient’s appointments and answering all your important phone calls! She was born and raised in Bosnia. She came to the United States in 1996 and became a US citizen in 2003. Vanja lives in Cape Elizabeth with her husband Sanin, son Deni, & two kitties Smokey & Charley. She loves Ballroom dancing, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
Sarah – Scheduling Coordinator
Sarah joined the team in May 2017. She will be greeting you at checkout, scheduling patient appointments, answering phone calls and any questions you may have. Sarah was born and raised in Maine. She enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends, and working as a cosmetologist when she’s not in the dental office.
Emily – Dental Hygienist
Emily started at our office in 2011 as a floater, completing tasks such as cleaning rooms and sterilization. After graduating from the University of New England’s Dental Hygiene program in May of 2012, Emily joined our practice as a dental hygienist! Emily was born and raised in Maine, growing up in Standish and now living in Gorham with her husband, Brett, and their German Shepard, Stoeger. For fun, Emily enjoys traveling, boating, x-country skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Keelan – Dental Hygienist
Keelan has worked at Southern Maine Pediatric Dentistry since 2009. She graduated from the University of New England in 2007 and has found a love for working with children. She currently lives in Buxton with her husband Patrick, and their dog Ivan. Keelan very much enjoys the outdoors whether it be camping, hiking, or fishing. She spends a lot of time with her family and friends and travels whenever possible!
Allyson – Dental Hygienist
Allyson started working at SMPD in 2010. She graduated from University of New England in 2009. She has always loved working with children, and is eager to help educate you and your child on how oral health can be fun! Allyson is a busy mom at home with her daughter Elanor, son Everet, Borador dog Lucy, and cat Rocky! She loves being outdoors hiking and spending time with her family.
Mikaela – Dental Hygienist
Mikaela began at our office in 2013 as our sterilization tech/floater and has been a full-time hygienist since 2016. She graduated from UNE in 2011 and from UMA in 2012, finishing with her Bachelor’s Degree. Mikaela grew up in Millinocket, Maine and now resides in Windham with her fiance Dan and their two pups Lady & Rudy. She enjoys quality time with family and friends, traveling, watching sports, and adventuring outdoors!
Kegan joined our office in 2016 and is currently in a dual role of cleaning rooms and managing sterilization, as well as, seeing patients for cleaning and sealant appointments! He graduated from the University of New England in 2015 where he acquired his Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Kegan has been a Maine resident his whole life growing up in Waterboro and currently living in Saco. He is also well travelled having studied in Seville, Spain while attending UNE and visiting multiple cities, countries, and even continents in his time in Europe. In his spare time he enjoys all things outdoors from snowboarding, to hiking, to boating, and also spends a lot of time with his family and their pug Bailey.
Melinda is the newest hygienist to join our team. Melinda graduated from the University of New England with a degree in dental hygiene in 2005. She began her career practicing in a general dental office, working with patients of all ages. She has always felt a special connection with her youngest patients, and enjoyed providing a positive and FUN dental experience for them. Melinda, and her husband Andy, have three children of their own. They enjoy traveling, sports, and playing with their new Labradoodle puppy, “Curry”.
Sheryll – Dental Assistant/Staff Coordinator
Miss Sheryll has been with Dr Whitney since 2005. She had started her career as a Dental Assistant in 1979. She loves working with children and accompanying Dr Whitney in the hospital. Sheryll also enjoys coordinating staff events and mentors the staff she loves. She grew up in Connecticut, however, has lived in Maine for over 20 years where she raised her four amazing daughters. In her spare time she loves going to the beach, reading, spending time with friends and family and visiting her grandchildren every chance she gets.
Braedan – Dental Assistant
Braedan joined SMPD in July of 2014 and works as a dental assistant. She attended Dental Careers Institute and graduated in January of 2014. She is passionate about her job and always focuses on making her patients comfortable and happy. When Braedan is not working she is spending time with her family in Sebago; with her husband Scott, daughters Piper and Blair, and their Labradors Rangeley, and Gunther.
Tara – Dental Assistant
Tara joined SMPD in January of 2018. She attended Worcester Technical Institute where she received her certification in dental assisting. Tara has been working in pediatric dentistry for over 18years. She recently moved to Maine for a more simpler life after living in Boston for several years. In her spare she loves practicing and teaching the art of yoga. She also loves running, traveling, and the outdoors.
Dawn – Dental Assistant/Floater
Dawn started her dental career as a dental assistant in July 2007 after attending YCCC and completing the Dental Assisting program. She is very passionate about her job and loves working with children. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, and their two boys, Kyle and Kobe.
